Nancy Groenteman woont in Amsterdam. Daar studeerde ze schilderkunst en grafiek aan de Rietveld Academie.
Haar onderwerp is het landschap: de heuvels van Italië of de wisselende oppervlakken en lijnen die eb en vloed op de brede stranden van Picardië teweeg brengen vormen een bron van inspiratie.
Haar meest recente werk heeft ook het Nederlandse landschap als onderwerp.
Het is een weergave van de stapeling van vlakken die je ziet op een omgeploegde akker die door sloten onderbroken wordt of van de afwisselende structuren van de velden in het tuinbouwgebied rond Sassenheim.
Nancy kiest voor een beperkt kleurenpalet: verschillende nuances van één kleur versterken elkaar in combinatie met grafische contrasten.
Nancy Groenteman lives in Amsterdam. There she studied painting and graphics at the Art Acadamy 'Rietveld' in and graduated in 1990.
Her subject is the landscape: the sloping hills of Italy or the triggering surfaces and lines that ebb and flow bring on to the wide beaches of Picardy in France form a continuous source of inspiration.
Her most recent work also covers the Dutch landscape.
It is a representation of the stacking of surfaces that you see on a ploughed field that is interrupted by ditches or of the alternating structures of the fields in the horticultural area around Sassenheim.
Nancy uses a restricted palette: different tones of one colour strengthen each other in combination with subtle graphic contrasts.
